Make Your Plan to Vote
ELECTION DAY
Tuesday, November 3, 2026
Polls are open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. If you are in line when the polls close, stay in line. You have the right to vote.
October 24, 2026
Your registration has to be received by your county Board of Elections by October 24, not postmarked by then, received. If you are registering close to the deadline, register online or hand it in rather than mailing it. Register online at elections.ny.gov/register-vote
VOTE EARLY, IN PERSON
October 24 – November 1
Any registered voter can vote early in person. You do not need a reason, and there is usually far less of a queue than on Election Day. Hours are set by each county, so check with your county Board of Elections. Your early voting site may not be the same place as your Election Day polling place. Find your early voting site at voterlookup.elections.ny.gov
VOTE BY MAIL
Request by October 24
Any registered voter in New York can request a mail ballot, and you do not need to give a reason. Requests by post or through the online portal must arrive by October 24; in person at your county board, by November 2. Your completed ballot must be postmarked or handed in by November 3, and a postmarked ballot still counts as long as it reaches your county Board of Elections by November 10. If it is close to the deadline, hand it in rather than posting it. Find your polling place at voterlookup.elections.ny.gov
